M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Matveev, V.; Chadeeva, M.; Parygin, P.; Philippov, D.; Polikarpov, S.; Popova, E.; Rusinov, V.; Azarkin, M.; Dremin, I.; Kirakosyan, M.; Матвеев, Виктор Анатольевич; Чадеева, Марина Валентиновна; Поликарпов, Сергей Михайлович; Русинов, Владимир ЮрьевичNew measurements of anisotropic flow in XeXe collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 5.44 TeV per nucleon pair, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, are presented. The v(2), v(3) and v(4) Fourier coefficients of the anisotropic azimuthal distribution are obtained employing three different analysis techniques: two-particle correlations, the scalar product method, and multiparticle cumulants, which have different sensitivities to non-flow and flow fluctuation effects. The results are shown as a function of transverse momentum (P-T) for various centrality selections, and compared with corresponding results from PbPb collisions. These new measurements in a smaller nucleus-nucleus system than PbPb provide additional insights into the system-size dependence of the collective flow induced by the dominant collision geometry and its fluctuations. In particular, these results, compared to theoretical predictions and Monte Carlo generators, will provide important details on the system size dependence of the medium response in heavy ion collisions. They also offer a unique opportunity to study the onset of flow from small to large systems.

M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Bychkova, O.; Chistov, R.; Danilov, M.; Polikarpov, S.; Tarkovskii, E.; Matveev, V.; Чистов, Руслан Николаевич; Данилов, Михаил Владимирович; Поликарпов, Сергей Михайлович; Матвеев, Виктор Анатольевич© 2020 The Author(s)A study of excited Λb 0 baryons is reported, based on a data sample collected in 2016–2018 with the CMS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of up to 140fb−1. The existence of four excited Λb 0 states: Λb 0(5912)0, Λb 0(5920)0, Λb 0(6146)0, and Λb 0(6152)0 in the Λb 0π+π− mass spectrum is confirmed, and their masses are measured. The Λb 0π+π− mass distribution exhibits a broad excess of events in the region of 6040–6100 MeV, whose origin cannot be discerned with the present data.
- ПубликацияТолько метаданныеSearch for top squark pair production in a final state with two tau leptons in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV(2020) Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Matveev, V.; Chadeeva, M.; Parygin, P.; Philippov, D.; Rusinov, V.; Zhemchugov, E.; Матвеев, Виктор Анатольевич; Чадеева, Марина Валентиновна; Русинов, Владимир Юрьевич© 2020, The Author(s).A search for pair production of the supersymmetric partner of the top quark, the top squark, in proton-proton collision events at s = 13 TeV is presented in a final state containing hadronically decaying tau leptons and large missing transverse momentum. This final state is highly sensitive to high-tan β or higgsino-like scenarios in which decays of electroweak gauginos to tau leptons are dominant. The search uses a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 77.2 fb−1, which was recorded with the CMS detector during 2016 and 2017. No significant excess is observed with respect to the background prediction. Exclusion limits at 95% confidence level are presented in the top squark and lightest neutralino mass plane within the framework of simplified models, in which top squark masses up to 1100 GeV are excluded for a nearly massless neutralino. - ПубликацияТолько метаданныеMeasurement of the top quark pair production cross section in dilepton final states containing one τ lepton in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV(2020) Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Matveev, V.; Chadeeva, M.; Parygin, P.; Philippov, D.; Popova, E.; Rusinov, V.; Матвеев, Виктор Анатольевич; Чадеева, Марина Валентиновна; Русинов, Владимир Юрьевич© 2020, The Author(s).The cross section of top quark pair production is measured in the tt¯→(ℓνℓ)(τhντ)bb¯ final state, where τh refers to the hadronic decays of the τ lepton, and ℓ is either an electron or a muon. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1 collected in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV with the CMS detector. The measured cross section is σt t ¯ = 781 ± 7 (stat) ± 62 (syst) ± 20 (lumi) pb, and the ratio of the partial width Γ(t → τντb) to the total decay width of the top quark is measured to be 0.1050 ± 0.0009 (stat) ± 0.0071 (syst). This is the first measurement of the t t ¯ production cross section in proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV that explicitly includes τ leptons. The ratio of the cross sections in the ℓτh and ℓℓ final states yields a value Rℓτh/ll = 0.973 ± 0.009 (stat) ± 0.066 (syst), consistent with lepton universality. [Figure not available: see fulltext.]
- ПубликацияТолько метаданныеCombined search for supersymmetry with photons in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV(2020) Sirunyan, A. R.; Azarkin, M.; Dremin, I.; Kirakosyan, M.; Newbold, D. M.; Матвеев, Виктор Анатольевич; Чистов, Руслан Николаевич; Данилов, Михаил Владимирович; Поликарпов, Сергей МихайловичA combination of four searches for new physics involving signatures with at least one photon and large missing transverse momentum, motivated by generalized models of gauge-mediated supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking, is presented. All searches make use of proton-proton collision data at root s = 13 TeV, which were recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2016, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). Signatures with at least one photon and large missing transverse momentum are categorized into events with two isolated photons, events with a lepton and a photon, events with additional jets, and events with at least one high-energy photon. No excess of events is observed beyond expectations from standard model processes, and limits are set in the context of gauge-mediated SUSY. Compared to the individual searches, the combination extends the sensitivity to gauge-mediated SUSY in both electroweak and strong production scenarios by up to 100GeV in neutralino and chargino masses, and yields the first CMS result combining various SUSY searches in events with photons at root s = 13 TeV. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Matveev, V.; Bychkova, O.; Chistov, R.; Polikarpov, S.; Tarkovskii, E.; Zhemchugov, E.; Матвеев, Виктор Анатольевич; Чистов, Руслан Николаевич; Поликарпов, Сергей МихайловичThe first search for supersymmetry in events with an experimental signature of one soft, hadronically decaying τ lepton, one energetic jet from initial-state radiation, and large transverse momentum imbalance is presented.
- ПубликацияТолько метаданныеSearch for disappearing tracks in proton-proton collisions at s=13TeV(2020) Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Chistov, R.; Danilov, M.; Oskin, A.; Parygin, P.; Philippov, D.; Polikarpov, S.; Matveev, V.; Чистов, Руслан Николаевич; Данилов, Михаил Владимирович; Поликарпов, Сергей Михайлович; Матвеев, Виктор Анатольевич© 2020 The Author(s)A search is presented for long-lived charged particles that decay within the volume of the silicon tracker of the CMS experiment. Such particles can produce events with an isolated track that is missing hits in the outermost layers of the silicon tracker, and is also associated with little energy deposited in the calorimeters and no hits in the muon detectors. The search for events with this “disappearing track” signature is performed in a sample of proton-proton collisions recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC with a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 101fb−1 recorded in 2017 and 2018. The observation of 48 events is consistent with the estimated background of 47.8−2.3 +2.7(stat)±8.1(syst) events. Upper limits are set on chargino production in the context of an anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking model for purely wino and higgsino neutralino scenarios. At 95% confidence level, the first constraint is placed on chargino masses in the higgsino case, excluding below 750 (175) GeV for a lifetime of 3 (0.05) ns. In the wino case, the results of this search are combined with a previous CMS search to produce a result representing the complete LHC data set recorded in 2015–2018, the most stringent constraints to date. At 95% confidence level, chargino masses in the wino case are excluded below 884 (474) GeV for a lifetime of 3 (0.2) ns.

- ПубликацияТолько метаданныеMeasurement of the cross section for electroweak production of a Z boson, a photon and two jets in proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV and constraints on anomalous quartic couplings(2020) Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Matveev, V.; Chadeeva, M.; Parygin, P.; Philippov, D.; Popova, E.; Rusinov, V.; Матвеев, Виктор Анатольевич; Чадеева, Марина Валентиновна; Русинов, Владимир Юрьевич© 2020, The Author(s).A measurement is presented of the cross section for electroweak production of a Z boson and a photon in association with two jets (Zγjj) in proton-proton collisions. The Z boson candidates are selected through their decay into a pair of electrons or muons. The process of interest, electroweak Zγjj production, is isolated by selecting events with a large dijet mass and a large pseudorapidity gap between the two jets. The measurement is based on data collected at the CMS experiment at s = 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb−1. The observed significance of the signal is 3.9 standard deviations, where a significance of 5.2 standard deviations is expected in the standard model. These results are combined with published results by CMS at s = 8 TeV, which leads to observed and expected respective significances of 4.7 and 5.5 standard deviations. From the 13 TeV data, a value is obtained for the signal strength of electroweak Zγjj production and bounds are given on quartic vector boson interactions in the framework of dimension-eight effective field theory operators. - ПубликацияТолько метаданныеExperimental study of different silicon sensor options for the upgrade of the CMS Outer Tracker(2020) Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Matveev, V.; Chistov, R.; Danilov, M.; Parygin, P.; Philippov, D.; Polikarpov, S.; Tarkovskii, E.; Azarkin, M.; Dremin, I.; Kirakosyan, M.; Newbold, D. M.; Матвеев, Виктор Анатольевич; Чистов, Руслан Николаевич; Данилов, Михаил Владимирович; Поликарпов, Сергей МихайловичDuring the high-luminosity phase of the LHC (HL-LHC), planned to start in 2027, the accelerator is expected to deliver an instantaneous peak luminosity of up to 7.5 x 10(34) cm(-2) s(-1). A total integrated luminosity of 3000 or even 4000 fb(-1) is foreseen to be delivered to the general purpose detectors ATLAS and CMS over a decade, thereby increasing the discovery potential of the LHC experiments significantly. The CMS detector will undergo a major upgrade for the HL-LHC, with entirely new tracking detectors consisting of an Outer Tracker and Inner Tracker. However, the new tracking system will be exposed to a significantly higher radiation than the current tracker, requiring new radiation-hard sensors. CMS initiated an extensive irradiation and measurement campaign starting in 2009 to systematically compare the properties of different silicon materials and design choices for the Outer Tracker sensors. Several test structures and sensors were designed and implemented on 18 different combinations of wafer materials, thicknesses, and production technologies. The devices were electrically characterized before and after irradiation with neutrons, and with protons of different energies, with fluences corresponding to those expected at different radii of the CMS Outer Tracker after 3000 fb(-1). The tests performed include studies with beta sources, lasers, and beam scans. This paper compares the performance of different options for the HL-LHC silicon sensors with a focus on silicon bulk material and thickness.
