    Droplets of the Order Parameter in a Low Density Attracting Electron System in the Presence of a Strong Random Potential

    © 2021, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.Abstract: The properties of a two-dimensional low density (n ≪ 1) electron system with strong onsite Hubbard attraction U > W (W is the bandwidth) in the presence of a strong random potential V uniformly distributed in the range from –V to +V are considered. Electronic hops only at neighboring sites on the square lattice are taken into account, thus W = 8t. The calculations were carried out for a lattice of 24 × 24 sites with periodic boundary conditions. In the framework of the Bogoliubov–de Gennes approach we observed an appearance of inhomogeneous states of spatially separated Fermi–Bose mixture of Cooper pairs and unpaired electrons with the formation of bosonic droplets of different size in the matrix of the unpaired normal states We observed a decrease in the droplet size (from larger droplets to individual bielectronic pairs) when we decrease the electron density at fixed values of the Hubbard attraction and random potential. The obtained results are important for the construction of the gross phase diagram and understanding of the nature of the phase transition between superconducting, normal metallic and localized states in quasi-2D (thin) film of a dirty metal. In a more practical sense it is interesting also for the experimental implementation of superconducting qubits on quantum circuits with high impedances in granular superconductors.

    Superconducting and normal properties of the low-dimensional phases of the metallic hydrogen

All rights reserved.In the first part of the paper we consider properties of a two-dimensional low density (n = 1) electron system with strong onsite Hubbard attraction U ≥ W (W is the bandwidth) in the presence of a strong random potential V uniformly distributed in the range from -V to +V. In the framework of the Bogoliubov-de Gennes approach we observed an appearance of inhomogeneous state of spatially separated Fermi-Bose mixture of Cooper pairs and unpaired electrons with the formation of bosonic droplets of different size in the unpaired fermionic matrix. Software package to solve the system of Eliashberg equations that describes the transition of a metal to a superconducting state is presented. We use a version of the Eliashberg system of equations written on the imaginary axis. The system is presented in two versions: without taking into account the corrections for the chemical potential of electrons and with taking them into account. The calculations were performed for the I41/amd phase of metallic hydrogen at a pressure of 500 GPa.

    Features of the Emission Spectrum during Channeling of Ultrarelativistic Leptons

    © 2019, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.Abstract: The probability of photon emission by a channeled particle is calculated in the nondipole case. The emission of hard photons with energies comparable with the energy of the incident channeled particle is studied. The quasi-Bloch energy spectrum is calculated for an oriented fast charged particle entering a crystal at angles both smaller and larger than the Lindhard angle. The initial and final spectra of the channeled particle belong to different sets of the wavefunctions of the bands corresponding to different energies. The generation of photons by a quantum particle oriented with respect to the crystal and entering the crystal at angles both larger and smaller than the Lindhard angle are considered on the same basis. It is shown that the emission spectrum of hard photons consists of a set of distinct emission lines.

    “Tubular” Lanthanum Hydride: A New Class of High-Temperature Superconducting Materials

    © 2019, Pleiades Publishing, Inc.Quantum calculations within density functional theory have predicted a new structure of lanthanum hydride La2H24 that is dynamically stable up to pressures about 150 GPa. It is a semimetal and has a low symmetry of crystal lattice P1 ¯. An important feature of this structure is the existence of quasimolecular hydrogen chains, which leads to the presence of phonon frequencies of about 420 meV, exceeding the maximum vibration frequency of the metallic hydrogen Fddd phase (ω ~ 360 meV). These properties make it possible to expect a high superconducting transition temperature for lanthanum hydride La2H24.

A common physical and numerical approach was used to determine both the stability range and the critical superconducting temperature. The characteristics of the high-pressure phase of the triple hydride YS4H4 are obtained.

The emission of hard photons with an energy comparable with that of the incident channeled particle is studied. The initial and final spectra of the channeled particle are described by different sets of band wave functions corresponding to different energies. The processes of photon generation by a quantum particle entering into the crystal at an angle larger and smaller than the Lindhard angle are considered on an equal basis. The spectrum of hard-photon emission is shown to consist of a set of well-observed emission lines.

    Kinetic Phenomena in a Semiconductor Excited by an Oriented Beam of Fast Particles

    © 2022, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.Abstract: It is shown that the passage of channeled particles through a crystal without a center of symmetry or in a magnetic field leads to the appearance of a current, i.e., quasi-photogalvanic and quasi-photomagnetic effects. The theory of these phenomena is developed. The orientation dependence of the quasi-photomagnetic and quasi-photogalvanic currents on the entry angle of a channeled particle with respect to the crystallographic planes is predicted. The dependence of the effect on the state and quantum transitions of a channeled particle is studied. The contribution of matrix elements of the first and second kinds to the quasi-photogalvanic effect is investigated. The intensity of the quasi-photogalvanic current induced by the nondipole radiation of hard photons generated by a high-energy channeled particle is estimated.
