    On optimization of multiparametric systems with distributed global extremum

    © 2020 IEEE.Optimization methods for multiparametric systems with a distributed global extremum are considered. A typical example of such a system is a multi-cavity klystron. It is shown that optimization of multiple-cavity klystron can be successfully performed by the macrostep method. The results of optimization of klystrons with extreme efficiency values and gain bands are presented. The possibilities of development of the macrostep method are considered. The problem of forming a uniform discrete neighborhood of a point in a multidimensional space for the formation of a hyperspheric working area is considered. Options for solving this problem are given.

    Methods for Optimizing the High Efficient Broadband Klystrons

    © 2020 IEEE.The problems of combining a high efficiency value with a wide band in the klystron are discussed. The connection of the gain band with the basic electron-optical parameters is shown. The features of the implementation of the macrostep optimization method for broadband klystrons are shown. The possibility of synthesizing klystrons with an efficiency of 70% with a bandwidth of more than 7% is shown. The possibility of synthesis of ultra-wide-band bunchers with bandwidth about 50% providing the efficiency about 70% in almost whole band is also shown.

    Methods for full global optimization of klystron parameters

    © 2019 IEEE.A single scheme of klystron parameter optimization is considered, which includes structure optimization and optimization of the maximum number of input parameters (all parameters of group B). This optimization had been called as the full global optimization (FGO). Discusses two methods FGO: stage-by-stage optimization for the standard configuration of the klystron and the embedding method for the klystron configuration with higher harmonics cavities. It is shown that both methods allow reaching the level of klystron efficiency up to 90%.

    Simulation of High-Efficiency Klystrons with the COM and CSM bunching

    the two types of high effective bunching in powerful klystrons are discussed. The first bunching type, named COM, is intended for standard klystron structure with first harmonic cavities only. The second bunching type, named CSM, is realized in klystron structures which includes cavities of second and third harmonics. Both bunching types allow to reach the klystron efficiency up to 90%.

    On the Possibility of Creation of the Mobil Resotrode-accelerator

    The possibilities of creating a new electro-vacuum device - a mobile resotrode accelerator are considered. This device is supposed to be used as the basis of an accelerator complex for disinfection of bulk products. It is shown that such a device can be developed based on the concept of a resotrode with 0-regeneration. The analysis of such a device with an output beam energy of 2 MeV and powered by a standard diesel generator is carried out. Calculations of the main parameters are carried out and a sketch of the device is presented. © 2022 IEEE.

    On the Possibility of Creation of the Multi Beam Broadband IOT

    A variant of a multipath broadband inductive output tube (IOT) of the decimeter band with a local bandwidth of up to 18% and with the possibility of frequency tuning within an octave is considered. Improved band characteristics are achieved due to special designs of input and output electrodynamic systems with axial coaxial input and output. The diagrams of the input and output electrodynamic systems, the results of simulation and calculation of characteristics, as well as a possible option of the overall design of the device are shown © 2022 IEEE.

    On the effective modes of electron bunches deceleration in the gap of the klystron output cavity

    © 2021 IEEE.The process of deceleration of electron bunches in the klystron output cavity is considered. It is shown that effective deceleration is possible only for a sufficiently narrow bunch. Such bunches are obtained only in the process of COM-bunching. It is shown that the process of deceleration in the output gap involves the formation of a dynamic electron layer, including electrons with zero and negative velocities, which should not go beyond the gap. This requirement leads to the need to increase the output gap. The results of modeling real klystron with a limited length and a relatively high beam perveance, for which the considered effects are significant, are presented.

    New high-efficiency resonant O-type devices as the promising sources of microwave power

    © 2020 by the authors. Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.New O-type high-power vacuum resonant microwave devices are considered in this study: COM klystrons, CSM klystrons and resotrodes. All these devices can output a large amount of power (up to units of MW and higher) with an efficiency of up to 90%. Such devices are promising microwave sources for industrial microwave technologies as well as for microwave energy. The principle of GSP-equivalence for klystrons is described herein, allowing a complete physical analog of this device with other parameters to be created. The existing mathematical and computer models of klystrons are analyzed. The processes of stage-by-stage optimization and the embedding procedure, which leads to COM and to CSM klystrons, are considered. Resotrodes, IOT-type devices with energy regeneration in the input circuit, are also considered. It is shown that these devices can combine high power with an efficiency of up to 90% and a gain of more than 30 dB. Resotrodes with 0-regeneration can be effective sources of radio frequency (RF) power in the range of 20 to 200 MHz. Resotrodes with 2π-regeneration are an effective source of RF/microwave energy in the range of 200 MHz to 1000 MHz.
