V.; Харитонов, Владимир Витальевич; Факультет бизнес-информатики и управления комплексными системами© 2021, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature. An economic/analytical model is proposed for predicting investment efficiency criteria for nuclear desalination of seawater using reverse osmosis technology based on PWR (VVER) reactors. The proposed model makes it possible to determine the relationship between the admissible engineering and economic parameters of a cogeneration plant consisting of a nuclear power plant and a desalination plant, the volume of marketable products, the market price of electricity and desalinated water to justify the profitable operation of a nuclear desalination plant, depending on its capacity, capital and operating costs, construction period and plant operation, and discount rates. The calculated dependences of the break-even range of operation of a nuclear desalination plant with production and market constraints on the volume of marketable products for a specified period of return on investment are shown.

V.; Харитонов, Владимир Витальевич; Семенов, Евгений Вадимович; Факультет бизнес-информатики и управления комплексными системамиThe paper is devoted to the definition of an analytical expression for estimating the burnup depth of nuclear fuel depending on its enrichment level, the periodicity of refueling, thermal stressthermal stress and the duration of the time period between refueling (reactor campaign) in a wide range of changes in key parameters for different types of thermal neutron reactors. The analytical expressions obtained in the work for the burnup depth are compared with numerous neutron physics calculations and experimental data from different authors for uranium fuel enrichment up to 9%. Calculations of the fuel share of the cost of electricity of nuclear power plants with PWR type reactors were performed and its sensitivity to changes in burnup depth and enrichment of fuel, the refueling periodicity, as well as to market prices for natural uranium, conversion, enrichment, fabrication of fuel assemblies and SNF handling were determined.
- ПубликацияТолько метаданныеThe value of spent nuclear fuel as a raw material for fueling reactors on thermal neutrons(2019) Uliyanin, Yu. A.; Soloveva, A. P.; Kharitonov, V. V.; Yurshina, D. Yu.; Харитонов, Владимир Витальевич; Семенова, Дарья Юрьевна; Факультет бизнес-информатики и управления комплексными системами© 2019 Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering, National Research Nuclear University 'MEPhI'. All rights reserved. An analytical model is presented to determine the energy and economic value of SNF as a raw material for thermal reactors' fuel and to identify the period of time when the energy demand for mass production of fuel from SNF appears. Possible scenarios for using of fuel resources from SNF for compensation of the predicted shortage of natural uranium which occurs from the exhaustion of deposits with the lowest cost of production and limited resources with a cost price of up to $ 260/kgU (with available forecasts of recoverable resources) are given. From the energy (resource) point of view, there is no need in large-scale SNF reprocessing for thermal reactors fuel production almost until 2040. The need to reprocess SNF in the coming decades is determined not by resource considerations, but by the necessity to reduce the amount of highly radioactive waste, develop industrial technologies of SNF treatment for the future safe and economically acceptable closed nuclear fuel cycle (NFC), increase the competitiveness of fuel companies on a global market due to the integrated offer of NFC services, etc. Calculations of the fuel component in the cost of electricity produced by nuclear power plants with REMIX-fuel are made. REMIX-fuel is obtained by adding a certain amount of highly enriched uranium (up to 20%) to an unseparated mixture of uranium and plutonium in the reprocessed SNF which is purified from fission products and has a fissionable nuclide concentration of 1 - 2%. The enrichment of this additive has little effect on the REMIX-fuel price, since its price increases with an increase in the additive enrichment, but the mass fraction necessary for obtaining a given enrichment of fuel from thermal reactors decreases. A concept of SNF reprocessing value for the production of REMIX-fuel is presented with the method of its calculation. The higher the value of SNF reprocessing, the more profitable the production of REMIX-fuel for thermal reactors.
- ПубликацияОткрытый доступCalculation of the cost of enriched uranium products in multi-stream cascades of enrichment process(National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute), 2023) Semenov, E. V. ; Kharitonov, V. V.; Харитонов, Владимир Витальевич; Семенов, Евгений Вадимович; Факультет бизнес-информатики и управления комплексными системамиModern uranium enrichment facilities can simultaneously use several raw materials as feed, including natural uranium, regenerated uranium obtained as a result of SNF reprocessing, or depleted uranium (all in the form of uranium hexafluoride). As the output of the separating cascade, several types of enriched uranium product with different levels of enrichment can be fabricated simultaneously. The paper proposes a methodology, absent in literature, for calculating the cost of each enriched uranium product in multi-stream separating cascades. The proposed methodology uses standard definitions of the isotopic value of feed and product stream and the Peierls-Dirac separation potential. Numerical calculations of the cost of enriched uranium products for three production problems are provided as examples of the methodology effectiveness: 1) involvement of depleted uranium hexafluoride (DUHF) in fabrication of enriched uranium product; 2) simultaneous fabrication of two enriched products; 3) use of depleted uranium to reduce the cost of the product with a higher enrichment level out of two (as applied, e.g., to advanced tolerant fuel). It has been shown that partial additions of DUHF as feed for a multi-product separating cascade make it possible to reduce the cost of a product with a higher level of enrichment; with the current market prices for natural uranium and separative work, there is a range of tails assays in which it is more profitable to enrich DUHF rather than natural uranium.

V.; Иванов, Виктор Владимирович; Крянев, Александр Витальевич; Харитонов, Владимир Витальевич; Факультет бизнес-информатики и управления комплексными системами© 2020, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.Abstract: This paper is devoted to the development of mathematical models of exhaustion process of extracted mineral resources. Our new model combines the advantages of previous models and is devoid of their disadvantages. The model uses the transition of the growth rate of extraction of mineral resource to stationary value. The initial known parameters of the model include the explored residual volume of the mineral resource, the initial volume of its extraction, the initial growth rate of its extraction, and the indicator of decreasing rate of extraction growth. The model is applied using the example of predicted extraction and exhaustion of natural uranium.
