© 2019 Author(s).Study of AISI 1045 steel fatigue resistance under cyclic loading has been carried out. Fatigue damage accumulation was assessed by statistical processing of microstructure images. For microstructural studies were used optical and atomic force microscopes (AFM). As material state parameters the obtained scan-images and changes in mechanical properties, such as hardness, yield stress, tensile stress, and total elongation were used. It is noted that within fatigue process strip-like structure of ferrite and perlite alternation is observed. The data obtained using AFM measurements in conjunction with other methods expand possibilities for just-in-time diagnosis of medium carbon steel.
