Abstract: The surface of metals after irradiation by intense flows of an argon plasma arising in a plasma focus has been studied. Steel, copper, tungsten, and molybdenum samples have been examined. Microstructures of different types have been detected. It has been found that the steel sample surfaces contain micropores 0.1‒3 μm in size with a shape close to round. On the copper and tungsten plate sample surfaces, the occurrence of finely dispersed structures 0.5‒20 μm in size has been observed. Possible mechanisms of the formation of these microstructures are discussed. © 2022, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
