All rights reserved.In this article we will discuss the problem of application of the CDIO standards for cyber-physical education in mechatronics and robotics in the area of nuclear physics and technologies, nuclear reactors and materials. During the education process it is decisive to use the tools that satisfy new requirements for modernization education programs. It is principal to create new technologies and methods of development practical engineering skills of students since the fourth industrial revolution. At National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, we have excellent experience of organizing students' education in mechatronics and robotics using 3D-modeling and design in accordance with the CDIO standards.

    © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.As part of the strategic research program of state corporation Rosatom, carried out by the Technological Platform "Closed Nuclear Fuel Cycle with Fast Neutron Reactors", a research to equip protective cells with original equipment, including ultrasonic flaw detectors for primary post-reactor non-destructive research of the properties of critical materials of fast neutron reactors, is being performed. In this paper, we present a method developed for determining corrosion damage of fuel claddings by the acoustic resonance method in hot chamber conditions, and a description of the experimental installation.

    © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.The urgency of the work consists in using a new approach to the definition of informative frequencies for the identification of corrosion damage. The aim of the work is to determine the discrepancies between the resonance frequencies of the oscillations of the fuel casing segments of the factory geometry and with various types of corrosion damage obtained by modelling defects in the casings of fuel casing segments. As a result of the analysis, informative ranges of ordinal numbers were revealed, which allow to determine the following corrosion damages: thinning from the outer and inner sides of the fuel casing, pitting corrosion, fretting corrosion.

    © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.In contemporary technological development there is a tendency to miniaturize and improve the efficiency of modern devices and information measuring systems, this trend affects not only aspects of electronic instrumentation, mechanical systems, mechatronics systems and microelectromechanics, but also systems for transfer and transformation of heat energy, accumulation and redistribution of heat fluxes, and miniaturization of cooling systems and improving the design of heat pumps. One of the contemporary ways of development of structure of heat transfer systems and transformation of thermal energy are elements based on the Peltier effect. We present the automated smart quality control system of commercially manufactured Peltier elements designed at the Department of Engineering Science and Technology of National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. The technical characteristics of our system and its functionality guarantee control and measurement of parameters of commercially available Peltier elements, production and interoperability control in the production of the elements as an electronic component base; production of precision equipment that requires the application of systems to maintain accurate temperature conditions, such as thermal imagers, laser projectors, mobile computing systems.

    Investigation of the elastic modulus and internal friction temperature dependences for the fuel rods by the resonance method tested by the modernized high-temperature device in hot cell

    © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.using the modernized high-temperature installation, the elastic characteristics and internal friction of the fuel rod shells were investigated in hot cell in order to update computer codes for WWER-1000 fuel rods. The elastic characteristics of the shell are analytically described and obtained a numerical shape factor of the first longitudinal frequency is calculated. There is description of new measuring units that provide data gathering by automatic or half-automatic mode. The elastic modulus and internal friction temperature dependences are determined by application of high-temperature modernized device that provides carrying out experiments at a temperature of 1160 K. Obtained effect could be interpreted by the crushing of the structure of the material.

    © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.The method of transcranial magnetic stimulation has a number of confirmed applications – not only for curing diseases, but also to develop neurocognitive abilities, such as language learning. Stationary treatment is rather expensive and not very convenient for many people. The trend so far is about development of mobile TMS systems. In this paper we present the results of our design of a transcranial magnetic stimulation system, that is different from other by application of nanostructured composites as a functional material. We discuss the features of such a design and options obtained by application of nanostructured materials.

Cyber-physical education requires the introduction of new standards into educational programs. At National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, we have extensive experience in the implementation and use of CDIO standards in cyber-physical education to improve the qualification of trained specialists. This article contains the results of the introduction of CDIO standards into the training program for specialists in the field of mechatronics and robotics at National Research Nuclear University MEPhI on the example of the development of digital electronic skills.
