Regularities of instantaneous (flash) spark - Plasma sintering of silicon carbide

© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.This paper shows the possibility of producing high - density materials based on silicon carbide in a short time with the methods of electropulse consolidation and flashsintering. During the experiments, several types of modes were considered which vary from each other by different initial data (pressure, temperature, power).While analyzing the data, a flash - sintering mode has been improved. The sintering of silicon carbide with the given mode allows producing a sample with a density equal to 97% of its theoretical density.

Проведен анализ закономерностей формирования структуры и механических свойств высокоплотных керамических материалов на основе β-Si5AlON7 при электроимпульсной консолидации порошков посредством спарк-плазменного спекания (СПС), мгновенного СПС (МСПС) и высоковольтной электроимпульсной консолидации (ВЭИК). Показана принципиальная возможность использования методов МСПС и ВЭИК для консолидации композитов β-Si5AlON7-SiC-hBN и β-Si5AlON7-TiN-hBN.
Sialon-tin ceramic composites by electric current assisted sintering

© 2019 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.Electric current assisted sintering of β-Si5 AlON7-TiN ceramic composites from raw materials prepared by combustion synthesis was investigated. A high level of relative density (92% and higher) was achieved by using of two types of electric current assisted sintering technique: high voltage electric discharge consolidation, as well as spark plasma sintering. While only spark plasma sintering, it may be considered as promising technique for obtaining ceramic composites and items with high level of strength properties.
Current-Assisted Sintering of Combustion-Synthesized beta-SiAlON Ceramics

Current-assisted sintering of combustion-synthesized -Si5AlON7, h-BN, and TiN powders was explored in comparison with conventional sintering. High relative density of product (above 92%) was achieved by using high-voltage electric discharge consolidation (HVEDC) and spark plasma sintering (SPS). Better results were obtained in case of SPS processing.
