The new method enables detection of changes in the fluxes of atmospheric muons passing through the object under study and determination of the specific features of its internal structure. Owing to the use of the state-of-the-art automated scanning facilities, large-scale studies of natural and industrial objects can be carried out that require processing of large quantity of photoemulsion. A major muonography experiment, in which the internal structure of buildings and the territory of the Svyato-Troitsky Danilov Monastery had been examined, is described in detail.

M.; Petrov, A. N.; Polukhina, N. G.; Shevchenko, V. I.; Shchedrina, T. V.; Starkova, E. N.; Starkov, N. I.; Шевченко, Владимир Игоревич; Полухина, Наталья ГеннадьевнаIOP Publishing Ltd and Sissa Medialab. The paper describes the matching of tracks in a nuclear emulsion detector interleaved with scintillating optical fiber (SciFi) planes. This technology is planned to be used in the Scattering and Neutrino Detector (SND) of the new experiment SHiP (Search for Hidden Particles) being developed in CERN. The experiment SHiP aimed on the search of very weakly interacting particles in the poorly studied region of the particle masses below 10 GeV will be installed in a beam dump facility at the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS). The SND detector is aimed to provide temporal and spatial analysis of the particle showers and isolated tracks to separate and reconstruct events in nuclear emulsion. SND design includes emulsion cloud chamber (ECC) and SciFi tracker. Motivation for using the combination of ECC and SciFi is to obtain the "real-time"information for the prompt and high-accuracy event analysis. The algorithm presented in the article provides a track matching accuracy not less than 50 μm with an efficiency of (89±8)%.

V.; Полухина, Наталья Геннадьевна; Шевченко, Владимир Игоревич; Грачев, Виктор МихайловичA new study of a historical object on the territory of the Russian Federation, the Holy Trinity Danilov Monastery, implemented by the muon radiography is presented. The method is based on the registration of changes in the cosmic muon fluxes during their passage through the object under study. Nuclear photoemulsions with unique spatial and angular resolution having the widest range of applications in experimental nuclear physics were used as experimental equipment. The experiment demonstrates a high efficiency of the method in the search for hidden objects, the presence of which on the territory of the monastery is confirmed by the results obtained. S.; Konovalova, N. S.; Korolev, P. S.; Larionov, A. A.; Managadze, A. K.; Melnichenko, I. A.; Okateva, N. M.; Polukhina, N. G.; Roganova, T. M.; Sadykov, Zh. T.; Shchedrina, T. V.; Shevchenko, V. G.; Грачев, Виктор Михайлович; Полухина, Наталья Геннадьевна; Шевченко, Владимир ИгоревичOne of the modern approaches to solving research and practical problems by studying internal structure of large natural and industrial objects on the base of muon radiography (muography) is presented. A large number of problematic geologically active zones on the Earth surface, the state of which poses a threat to the infrastructure located in them, require constant monitoring. For this purpose, as well as for the study of cultural heritage objects, in particular, when studying their hidden elements or damage, the muography method [1] can be used. The method, which is at testing and initial implementation phase in Russia, enables to solve these problems in an affordable and safe non-invasive way and provides for a threedimensional image of the internal structure of the objects under study without damaging or destroying them. The method is based on analysis of the cosmic muon flux absorption during their passage through the substance of the object under study.

The method is at the junction of elementary particle physics with many other areas of natural science, e.g., with archaeology. The article presents the results of a muographic study of two objects in the cave complex of a unique historical and archaeological monument, i.e., the Holy Dormition Pskovo-Pechersky Monastery. The experimental technique is based on nuclear emulsion detectors.

Most of the models considered in the literature are formulated on regular lattices with nearest neighbor interactions. The models with non-local interactions have been less studied. We investigate in the present article an example of such a model — non-local 𝑞-color Potts model on a random 𝑑 = 2 lattice, where only the same color spins at unit distance (within some small margin 𝛿) interact. We analyze numerically the structure of the vacuum states in this model and discuss qualitative features of the corresponding patterns. Conjectured relation with the chromatic number of a plane problem is discussed.
