Preliminary results of ongoing studies on benthos in the Słupsk Bank and in the Gulf of Gdańsk are discussed. Additionally, some results of studies on periphyton growing on certain artificial substrata deployed within a 1 km2 square of the bottom close to Station 2 in the Słupsk Bank are given. The test site, 17 m deep, is delimited by the following coordinates: 54˚56.55′N 16˚50.67′E; 54˚56.39′N 16˚51.56′E; 54˚55.88′N 16˚51.28′E; 54˚56.04′N 16˚50.38′E.
