All rights reserved.The training of a competent specialist for the nuclear industry, capable of quickly and efficiently solving the production problems that arise, is one of the urgent problems of the development of higher education at the present stage. The authors emphasize that the competence of an atomic engineer in professional activity depends not only on the presence of deep professional knowledge and skills but also on the ability to maximize self-realization in a rapidly changing socio-economic environment, applying knowledge in economics and management. Proceeding from this, it is proposed to include in the educational program of the engineering specialty a variable economic module, the organization of the process of teaching the disciplines of which should be carried out on the basis of the module-competence approach. Based on the study, the authors identified and justified the need to develop a scientific and methodological support for the variable economic module for organizing and implementing the educational process for the disciplines of this module for students in the engineering specialty. Attention is paid from a methodological point of view to the analysis of theoretical approaches in the disclosure of the concept of “scientific and methodological support.” The study allows us to note that in modern pedagogical science and practice, scientific and methodological support is interpreted as a holistic integrated support in the form of a process and result that has a scientific basis and is necessary to ensure the educational process with methodological, didactic and methodological developments. The author's definition of this concept is formulated. The theoretical and methodological aspects of the essence of the scientific and methodological support outlined in the paper made it possible to develop and substantiate the content of the scientific and methodological support of the variable economic module. It substantiates its main components, having a structural-functional relationship and aimed at achieving didactic goals and increasing the level of economic and managerial training of students in the engineering specialty.
