dc.description.abstract© 2022 Author(s).Optimization of fuel usage in a commercial fission reactor is an urgent problem at present. Meanwhile, very little effort is being made to set equations linking enrichment used, gadolinium oxide content, and the campaign length along with assessments of the efficiency of a fuel rod with gadolinium with various Gd2O3 content. In the present work, options of fuel assemblies for VVER-l200 are being considered. These fuel assemblies have different fuel rods and fuel rods with gadolinium enrichment and different total quantities of Gd203 in.fuel rods with gadolinium. Assemblies with the equal placement of Gd2O3 in.each fuel rod with gadolinium and assemblies with profiled ones were analyzed and compared, the results are given in this work. In the case of profiled rods, the profiling is performed depending on the neutron flux density in the ring where the fuel rods are located. Thus neutron-physical characteristics of fuel assembly are supposed to improve due to the gadolinium oxide placement in proportion to the neutron flux density.
