dc.description.abstract©2020TheAuthor(s)Micro-scale patterning of alignment layers with focused ion beam produces liquid-crystal-metasurfaces with strong diffraction. We study the electro-optical switching from diffraction to transmission mode and show that it occurs within milliseconds.
