dc.description.abstractCopyright © GLOBAL 2019 - International Nuclear Fuel Cycle Conference and TOP FUEL 2019 - Light Water Reactor Fuel Performance Conference.All rights reserved.This paper presents an approach giving an opportunity to specify, analyze and assess the characteristics of subcritical multiplying media with unknown composition and localization of nuclear materials. To test the proposed method, a receiver tank for radioactive waste was chosen where nuclear materials might have been accumulated. Provided, however, that their isotopic composition, density and location of the medium being considered are unknown. The proposed technique is based on the calculation analysis of neutron measurements for determining the probable location of fissile materials and neutron sources as well as neutron multiplication marginal value. This technique could be applied to a wide range of applications from the safeguards and border security to the arms control and counterterrorism.
