All rights reserved.The effect of temperature in the range from -196 ºС to 700 ºС on the strength and plastic (the elongation to fracture) properties of the reduced activation 12% chromium ferritic-martensitic steel EK-181 (Fe-12Cr-2W-V-Ta-B) after high-temperature thermomechanical treatment with plastic deformation in the austenitic region (HTMT) has been studied. The HTMT provides a significant increase of the yield strength with preservation of a sufficient level of the plasticity, compared with traditional heat treatment (THT). The higher values of strength after HTMT are associated with changes in the structural phase state of the steel and, as a result, with an increase in the efficiency of joint dispersed hardening (by nanosized vanadium carbonitride precipitates) and substructure hardening (due to an increase in dislocation density). The fracture type of steel is practically independent of the treatment conditions.
