dc.description.abstract© 2020, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.Abstract: The motion of electrons in giant fullerenes due to geometrical potential is investigated in the one-electron approximation. It is shown that because of flexural excitation of curvature, the geometrical potential induces a normal surface force, which affects the mechanism of small-amplitude surface oscillations of giant fullerenes. The inclusion of the geometrical potential in giant fullerenes reduces or completely compensates the effect of free transverse (radial) oscillations of the spherical layer.
