Radiative Characteristics of Ar2Cl* Excimer Molecules under Pumping of an Ar + CCl4 Dense Gas Mixture by High-Energy Electrons

dc.description.abstract© 2021, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.Abstract: Spectral and temporal luminescence characteristics of gas mixtures (Ar + CCl4), excited by a pulsed high-energy electron beam (Ee = 220 keV, T = 5 ns), have been investigated. It is found that Ar2Cl* excimer molecules, emitting a wide continuum (42Γ–12Γ) at 245 nm, are formed in dense gas mixtures. Radiative deexcitation times and continuum quenching constants (λmax = 245 nm) by the gas mixture components (Ar and CCl4) are measured. A plasma chemical model of formation of Ar2Cl* excimer molecules in Ar + CCl4 dense gas mixtures under pumping by charged high-energy particles is proposed.
