dc.description.abstractThis study aims to improve business processes related to customs clearance for international logistics companies by leveraging various means and technologies to achieve objectives. The Identification of current clearing processes, proposing new streamlined processes, and determining the necessary technologies to facilitate efficient custom clearance is what this study seeks to achieve using the System Thinking method. The business process modeling notation (BPMN) of the Modelio software (version 5.3) and Edraw software were used. The annual Report of Cargo Port Performance Index (CPPI 2021 Report) and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTD-Maritime Traffic 2021 Report) data were obtained and analyzed. Five machine learning algorithms were employed (Logistic Regression, Gaussian Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machine, Decision Tree, and Random Forest) on two datasets: one representing old processes and the other representing new clearing processes. The evaluation of these algorithms was based on their confusion matrix performance and accuracy level. Logistic regression demonstrated the highest accuracy values of 0.4 (40 %) for the old clearing processes and 0.88 (88 %) for the new clearing processes, indicating its effectiveness in distinguishing between the different stages of clearance. Web of Things (WoT)-based technologies were implemented to streamline custom clearance processes, where an online platform was developed by leveraging electronic data interchange (EDI) to facilitate the seamless sharing of information between stakeholders. Based on these findings, various recommendations have been proposed. By implementing these recommendations, customs clearance processes can be improved to mitigate delays, reduce dubious levies, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
