dc.description.abstract© 2019 Author(s).Monitoring of stress-strain state of metalwork is of great importance due to periodically snow load and significant temperature fluctuations that are special features of continental climate of Siberian region. This study allows to analyze cyclic loads effect on structures. Using atomic force microscopy (AFM) methods for examining low carbon steel AISI 1010 under cyclic deformation loading it is obtained that stress relaxation in ferrite grains is carried out by dislocation slip and subsequent grain-boundary sliding. At the same time, with the presence of significant cyclic strain, the relaxation of internal stresses is accomplished by individual ferrite grain boundaries splitting or microcracks initiating. It was found that the appearance of crossed corrugated lines in ferrite grains of steel samples indicates brittle fracture. The influence of microstructure formed during the relaxation of internal stresses on fracture processes development is under discussion.
