I.; Астапов, Иван Иванович; Барбашина, Наталья Сергеевна; Дмитриева, Анна Николаевна; Коновалова, Алена Юрьевна; Шутенко, Виктор Викторович; Яшин, Игорь Иванович© 2019, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.Coronal mass ejections are among the most powerful disturbances of the interplanetary space. They can influence the state of the near-Earth space, including magnetosphere of the Earth. In addition, such disturbances modulate the flux of cosmic rays and penetrate both the heliosphere and the Earth’s magnetosphere. In order to find an early alert of such events, it is necessary to investigate the flux of particles arriving to the Earth and providing information about events in the heliosphere. The paper presents the results of investigation of the anisotropy of the cosmic ray muon flux by means of the muon hodoscope URAGAN in the period from 2007 to 2018.

L.; Васильев, Александр Николаевич; Астапов, Иван Иванович; Барбашина, Наталья Сергеевна; Лозовский, Дмитрий Львович© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.Fundamental research in the field of high energy physics and nuclear physics is carried out at large international experiments with the joint participation of scientific organizations and research universities. This article discusses the features of the participation of a nuclear university in international research projects of the Mega-science class by the example of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. MEPhI is actively involved in the development, operation, and modernization of research projects of the Mega-science class, such as LHC, FAIR, NICA, RHIC, ITER, NEVOD. Participation in these megaprojects gives MEPhI an opportunity to gain unique new knowledge for the development of nuclear technologies and nuclear energy, to increase prestige and to gain access to modern high technologies. These issues were discussed at a conference "Personnel training and legal support for the implementation of scientific projects of the Mega-science class" organized by National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and Kutafin Moscow State Law University on June 20-21, 2019. The aim of the Conference is to discuss the policy management issues of implementation of the Mega-science class research projects.

N.; Melnikova, I. A.; Osetrova, N. V.; Shutenko, V. V.; Yashin, I. I.; Астапов, Иван Иванович; Барбашина, Наталья Сергеевна; Дмитриева, Анна Николаевна; Шутенко, Виктор Викторович; Яшин, Игорь Иванович© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.Coronal mass ejections (CME) have an impact on the flux of cosmic rays that penetrate the disturbed areas in the heliosphere and the near-terrestrial space. Unlike most ground-based cosmic ray detectors, the URAGAN muon hodoscope (MEPhI) allows to investigate both the integrated counting rate of registered particles and angular characteristics of the muon flux at the ground level. To select the local areas with statistically significant intensity changes, the angular distributions for the last hour and preceding it 24 hours corrected for the barometric effect are used. Angular distributions are smoothed, and the matrix of relative changes of the angular distribution in units of statistical errors is formed. The use of asymptotic directions calculated in advance, the angular cells of the matrix are mapped from the local coordinate system to the GSE coordinate system. The results of the study of GSE-mapping of local deformations of the angular distributions for different types of CMEs are discussed.

The procedure for selecting and reconstructing the parameters of events with cascades in the detector volume is discussed. Results are presented from measurements of the zenith angle distribution of cascades for different energies. The measured distributions are compared to results from calculations.

It includes several facilities for studying the electron–photon, muon, and hadron components of the EAS in the energy range of 1 PeV to 1 EeV. This work presents the first results for two months of the joint operation of five facilities (NEVOD-EAS, CWD, CTS, PRISMA-32, and DECOR). The problems of synchronizing the facilities and selecting joint events are considered. The experimental data of these facilities are analyzed for different components of the EAS in overlapping energy ranges.

The dependences of the energy deposit of muon bundles on the zenith angle and the local muon density are obtained for primary energies of 10–1000 PeV. The results from comparing the data to simulations performed with the CORSIKA program are presented.

I.; Barbashina, N. S.; Dmitrieva, A. N.; Shutenko, V. V.; Yashin, I. I.; Астапов, Иван Иванович; Барбашина, Наталья Сергеевна; Дмитриева, Анна Николаевна; Шутенко, Виктор Викторович; Яшин, Игорь Иванович© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd. The flux of cosmic rays passing through the heliosphere changes its characteristics (energy and angular distribution) due to the influence of the interplanetary magnetic field. Because of this, the muon flux produced by primary cosmic rays in the Earth atmosphere also changes its characteristics. Muons registered at the surface of the Earth are generated mainly by primary protons and helium nuclei with energies from 10 GeV to TeV. The trajectories of these particles in the heliosphere are significantly influenced by the interplanetary magnetic field. The construction of backward trajectories of particles from the Earth surface (detector) into the heliosphere region allows us to estimate the relationship between the trajectories of muons and primary particles. The trajectories of muons and parent protons and helium nuclei of various energies for positive and negative polarity of the Sun in a quiet period and under the influence of disturbances in the interplanetary magnetic field are presented. It is shown that the change in the polarity of the Sun and the influence of disturbances in the interplanetary magnetic field lead to qualitative changes in the regions of the heliosphere through which primary particles pass.

V.; Яшин, Игорь Иванович; Астапов, Иван Иванович; Барбашина, Наталья Сергеевна; Дмитриева, Анна Николаевна; Компаниец, Константин Георгиевич; Петрухин, Анатолий Афанасьевич; Шутенко, Виктор Викторович© 2019, Allerton Press, Inc.Abstract: Continuous monitoring of the muon flux over wide ranges of zenith and azimuth angles with the URAGAN detector (Moscow, 55.7° N, 37.7° E, 173 m AMSL) allows detection of variations in its intensity and angular distribution. A way of locating domains of anisotropy in the muon angular distribution is described, and they are mapped in matrix form in the GSE coordinate system. The maximum depth (height) of deformation, the zenith and azimuth angles of the center in the local system, and its GSE longitude and latitude are determined for each observed domain. The GSE longitudes of the detected domains of anisotropy are available on the Internet as functions of time and can be used to monitor the heliosphere’s activity.

Confidence intervals for estimating the matrix-data mathematical expectations in observations with reference and sliding data-sampling periods are selected, indicator functions are constructed, and a procedure for space–time filtering is developed. The results are presented from a search for local anisotropy in the muon flux recorded in the matrix-form data of the URAGAN hodoscope.
