The velocity of ions for a number of elements which significantly differ in atomic weight are obtained on the basis of collector measurements. The maximum velocity of both light (lithium) and heavy (lead) ions exceed the value of 108 cm/s; for ions of lead, the corresponding energy amounts to a value of ∼1 MeV. A mathematical model of ion acceleration is proposed and simulation results are compared with the experiment.

The LT-GaAs thin films used for the PCA fabrication were synthesized by MBE method on GaAs (100) substrate by adjusting the As pressure, As/Ga fluxes ratio, growth/annealing temperatures and annealing time. These parameters crucially affect electro-optical properties of the PCA samples as evidenced by the THz radiation power and time-domain spectroscopy measurements. The annealing temperature of 670 °C was found to be optimal for constructing a PCA possessing high amplitude of the THz radiation over the spectral range up to 1 THz at the resonance of 0.1 THz. The comparison of this PCA with the reference ZnTe crystal reveals a 2-fold increase in THz power. Furthermore, this antenna attains a 1.5-, 3-, and 2-fold increase in THz power, photocurrent efficiency, and actuating dc BV, as compared with the commercial ZOMEGA antenna. These results pave the way towards the creation of highly efficient LT-GaAs-based PCAs.

A.; Isaev, A. A.; Kozlovskiy, K. I.; Skripnik, A. P.; Козловский, Константин Иванович; Скрипник, Александр Павлович© 2020, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.Abstract: Two technological schemes are considered, as well as the possibilities of their implementation for the manufacture of sealed accelerator tubes based on diodes with magnetic isolation Schematic designs of tubes under development with a laser source of deuterons and an electronic conductivity suppression system are presented. To do this, a sufficiently heat-resistant permanent magnet is included in the vacuum volume of the first tube. Another design of the tube contains a pulsed system for suppressing electronic conductivity using a pulsed magnetic field created by a conical spiral placed inside the tube.

The results of relevant studies can be used in the development of security systems. THz images (taking into account the spectral information in each pixel) were obtained in this work by passing radiation through a sample based on hexogen (RDX) microcrystals deposited on a polyethylene (PE) film. A photoconductive antenna was used as a source of broadband radiation in the range from 0.5 THz to 2.5 THz. Spectral resolution was provided using a Fourier spectrometer based on a Michelson interferometer. The images were recorded using a THz video camera based on a microbolometric matrix. The possibility of identifying RDX microcrystals using color visualization of spectral information in the frequency range of one of the characteristic RDX peaks (~0.8 THz) has been demonstrated.

A mathematical model and an algorithm for calculating the radial Br and axial Bz components of the magnetic field in the approximation of a conical spiral by a system of rings of variable radius are proposed to analyze the factors affecting the efficiency of such acceleration. Based on computer modeling and an experimental variation of magnetic-field excitation parameters, the regime of effective ion acceleration is obtained. With the help of time-of-flight collector measurements, the velocities of ions whose atomic mass differs by two orders of magnitude are determined. The maximum velocity of both light ions (lithium) and heavy ions (lead) exceeds 106 m/s, and the corresponding energy for lead ions is ~1 MeV. The efficiency of collective acceleration with the direct acceleration of laser plasma ions in a high-current high-voltage diode with magnetic insulation is compared.

D.; Kozlovskii, K. I.; Lisovskii, M. I.; Rashchikov, V. I.; Shikanov, A. E.; Shatokhin, V. L.; Вовченко, Евгений Дмитриевич; Козловский, Константин Иванович; Ращиков, Владимир Иванович; Шиканов, Александр Евгеньевич; Шатохин, Вадим Леонидович© 2019, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature. In order to use neutron generators in applied research, it is important to increase the energy efficiency of neutron generation. For high accelerating voltages, diodes with magnetic insulation are used to suppress electron emission from the cathode in neutron accelerator tubes. A mathematical model describing the dynamics of charged particles in the axial diode with insulation of electrons by the field of a permanent magnet is studied. The model is used to perform a computer experiment that shows a reduction of insulation near the ends of the magnet, which permits up to 40% of the electrons from the cathode to reach the anode of the accelerator tube. An option for making the magnetic insulation more efficient by adding into the magnetic system diaphragms placed in the end zones of a cylindrical cathode is proposed and studied.
