Strongly focused femtosecond laser pulses at a wavelength of 515 nm were used for the single-pulse ablative nano-texturing of a 50 nm thick gold film using a diffractive optical element, which enables the production of nanoelements in the form of a U-split-ring. The optical properties of such U-shaped split-ring arrays and their optimal conditions for the near-field enhancement, depending on the shape and size of the individual element, were investigated using optical microspectroscopy and numerical simulations.
